Aaaaand finally… here it is!

I’ve been thinking about starting this blog for quite a while. But, you know how it goes—life, priorities, situations… they all took over, along with my time and energy. Over the past period, I’ve done a lot of thinking (some might call it a midlife crisis, ahaha), and I promised myself something important: to invest time in what I truly love and enjoy. For me, that’s cooking and baking at home.

It felt only right to start this blog by explaining why I’m here and what Lo’ Cook ‘n Bake is all about.

I’ve always loved food—yes, eating is definitely a big part of that, and I’m sure my family and friends would confirm it very loudly. But a few years ago, I discovered a completely new perspective on food. One that keeps triggering my interest more and more every day, and at the same time creates a calm, safe space where I can land whenever I feel stressed.

That’s actually how it all started.

At the time, I was happy with my full-time job, but also very stressed by it. We all say “a job is just a job,” right? Keeping that in mind, I started looking deeper into myself to find the things that truly brought me joy.

Around the same time, my husband and I finally completed the renovation of our new house—and I finally had the kitchen of my dreams. These two things came together naturally. I started experimenting more with food, trying out new recipes, baking cakes and muffins… well, you get the picture 🙂

What surprised me the most was what I discovered while being busy in the kitchen: a part of myself that I didn’t even know I needed. Cooking and baking became my safe space, my reset button, my little act of self-care. It turned out to be my painkiller.

When I’m tired or have a headache, I start cooking or baking—sometimes simply because I promised myself I would make something. And once I start, I already feel better. So yes, I found my charger.

Of course, I can’t do this all the time and at every moment—I also need sleep to recover, just like everyone else 😄

Why cooking and baking at home?

As mentioned above, this discovery really came to life when our new kitchen was finally ready. The renovation process took a long time and came with plenty of challenges, especially with the company working on our house. All of that resulted in a lot of stress and tiredness.

So when everything was finally finished, we felt a strong need to truly enjoy our new home—also in the small things. Small, but so important. We started cooking more, even dishes we had never made before. We searched for new recipes and visited special supermarkets to find specific ingredients.

Somehow, we also naturally defined our roles in the kitchen: I do most of the cooking and baking, and my husband is in charge of creating a signature cocktail to go along with the food. Yes—cocktails were a discovery too 😉

We found our little pleasures at home, and we genuinely enjoyed them. This boosted my passion for food even more and pushed me to dedicate myself to it in a deeper way.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about enjoying something made with your own hands. Homemade food feels cozy, comforting, and truly “homey.” And if I’m being completely honest, I feel incredibly blessed when family and friends tell me how good my food is and how much they enjoy it 🥰

What I’m doing with this cooking and baking blog

Once I realized how strong this passion really was, I started sharing my creations on Instagram. I updated my profile and I continue to curate it more and more as I grow and learn.

I also decided to start a chef course—which I’m super proud of. This was something I had been thinking about for a long time, but I was scared of the time commitment. It’s more than four hours per week for six months, so it’s definitely an investment. But passion won—and luckily so.

Because this truly feels like my thing, I want to create more space for it in my life. Through this blog, I want to share the perspective of cooking and baking at home. I want to show how easy certain things can be to make, and how much joy comes with the process.

I want to share my experiences, my passion, my tips and tricks—with people who feel the same way. And I hope to receive that energy back too. This is a learning process for me, and I’m just getting started.

So yes… here I am.
